The Concept

Why We Started The Backyard Farm

The idea for The Backyard Farm did not begin as a business plan. It began at home with a simple concern: what are we really feeding our children and family every day?

Looking Beyond What We Consume

Eggs are one of the most common foods in Indian households. People eat them for breakfast, add them to lunchboxes, and use them in daily cooking without thinking much about where they come from.

But once we looked closely at how many commercial eggs are produced, we realized the gap between what seems natural and what actually reaches the plate.

What Our Hens Eat

A Natural Diet That Supports Better Eggs, Feed quality has a direct impact on egg quality.
Our Rhode Island Red hens are fed a balanced mix that may include:

Travel Timeline

From Personal Choice to Responsibility

Today, the farm spreads across 10 acres in Ampad, Baroda, Gujarat. What started as a personal shift toward better food slowly became a larger commitment.

We had the land, the intent, and the responsibility to do this properly. So instead of keeping that benefit limited to our own home, we decided to share it with other families looking for fresh farm eggs and a more honest source of everyday food.

Choosing a Better Way

We wanted a different option for our own family, and that led to the beginning of The Backyard Farm.

What We Found

Hens kept in restricted conditions

Inconsistent feed quality

Heavily scaled production processes

Eggs passing through multiple supply points

Reduced freshness

Lack of traceability

Difficulty in building trust

Farm to kitchen. No middlemen. No confusion. Just fresh eggs from a farm that cares.
